Strip and re-thatch
When years of brushing leave the thatch thin and the wiring exposed, it is time to re-thatch. Cappings are repaired or replaced and bird or animal damage is filled.
New roofs and extensions
Built on CCA-treated, SABS-approved gum poles with Cape reed interiors, in different shapes and sizes. Extensions to existing roofs too.
Brushing and tightening
Brushing about every 5 years keeps thatch neat and helps prevent rot. Ropes on lapas, roofs and houses are tightened during the work.
Fibreglass ridging
We manufacture, supply, install and repair fibreglass ridging (nok), the capping on top of a thatch roof. We prefer it to grass or concrete capping.
Lightning conductors
Building, repairing, installing and testing lightning conductors. A certificate is provided on installation.
Fire retardant
A chemical spray for new and existing roofs, to slow the spread of fire. Possible lower insurance cost, and it binds the thatch to deter monkeys and birds.
Harvey tile roofs
A tiled roof instead of thatch, or on a new build, with the Cape reed interior look kept.

Thatching grass Dekgras
The standard grass used for thatching. Roofs should be built to standard, with a 45° slope: a lower slope risks rot.
Cape reed
Used for the ceiling inside a thatched roof. More presentable and durable than thatching grass.
CCA-treated poles
Gum poles, laths, droppers and garden edgings for thatch roofs, fencing, garden bridges, jungle gyms, paddocks, railings, obstacle courses and gates. Not sure which pole you need? Ask us.
Droppers
32/49 mm. Lengths 1.2 m, 1.5 m, 1.8 m, 2.1 m, 2.4 m. For survey poles, fencing and railings.
Laths
20/35 mm. Lengths 2.4 m, 3.0 m, 3.6 m, 4.5 m. About 30 laths per metre when laid side by side. Mainly used horizontally in lapa construction.
Fibreglass ridging
Manufactured, supplied and repaired. L-shape, T-shape and round cap.
Jungle gyms and garden
